Mathematics Competition:
1. International Mathematics Olympaid: In India,the students are subjected to a test called AMTI, region-wise and then some of then are selected for RMO[Regional Mathematics Olympiad].Selected Students are subjected to INMO[Indian National Mathematics Olympiad], from which nationally 35-36 children are selected.They are subjected to a rigorous camp, from which 6 are selected to represent India at IMO. The participants are ranked based on their individual scores. Medals are awarded to the highest ranked participants, such that slightly less than half of them receive a medal. Subsequently the cutoffs (minimum scores required to receive a gold, silver or bronze medal respectively) are chosen such that the ratio of gold to silver to bronze medals awarded approximates 1:2:3.
2. World Maths Day:
This year, over 5 million students participated in what is now the world’s largest online education event and combined to correctly answer nearly 300 million math problems.Participants 'warmed up' throughout February and then competed for real on competition day. Pupils from year 2 to year 12 had 2 sessions each competing to correctly answer as many mental arithmetic questions as they could.

Priyanshi Somani, daughter of businessman Satyen Somani and Anju Somani, started learning Mental Maths at the age of 6. She was the youngest participant of the Mental Calculation World Cup 2010 and won the overall combination title held at the University of Magdeburg, Germany on 5–7 June 2010. Somani claimed the title among 37 competitors from 16 countries, after standing 1st in extracting square roots from 6 digit numbers up to 8 significant digits in 6:51 minutes, 2nd in addition [10 numbers of 10 digits] and multiplication [2 numbers of 8 digits]. She is the only participant who has performed with 100% accuracy in Addition, Multiplication, and Square Root to date in all four mental calculation world cups. She also has a World Cup Record in calculating square roots. Priyanshi also solved 10 assigned tasks of square root correctly in 6:28 minutes on June 7, 2010, during the World Cup.
Priyanshi has also qualified for the Memoriad competition going to be held in Turkey 2012. Priyanshi has been named the Indian Ambassador for the prestigious World Maths Day 2011 event.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008 National Champion in abacus and mental arithmetic competition in India and in 2007 International Champion at Malaysia. In International Olympiad of Mathematics 2008 Priyanshi stood 1st at international level in grade 5.[citation needed] 1st position in Mathematics International Assessments for Indian Schools conducted by Macmillan Publishers India Ltd. among 15 countries in 2008 in grade 5.
Priyanshi Somani is the winner of Pogo Amazing Kids Awards 2010 in genius category. Her name has also been added to the Limca Book of World Records.
Priyanshi was the Guest Of Honor in the 16th Mental Arithmetic International Competition on 28 November 2010 organized by UCMAS Global Education Group at Malaysia among 43 countries.
On 3 January 2012 Priyanshi Somani is the new "World Record Holder" in "Mental Square Root". She finished 10 tasks of 6 digit numbers in 2:43:05 minutes. All tasks were calculated correctly to 8 significant digits.
Priyanshi Somani received the Outstanding Delegate Award in the third annual conference of CheongShim International Academy Model United Nations, held on the 20th to the 21st of February 2012 at South Korea.
Priyanshi won Bronze Medal in 5th International Young Mathematicians' Convention 2012 at CMS school Lucknow & also got 2nd rank in the quiz contest at National Maths Conference 2013,Peddapuram, Vishakhapatnam (NMC).
Priyanshi Somani,World record holder of Square Roots is again in the Limca Book of World Record 2013.
Priyanshi Somani studied in Mayo College Girls' School till 2012.
